Hundreds of thousands in prize money will be awarded in today’s races at Haydock Park. Understandably, a number of leading trainers and jockeys have been drawn to compete on Saturday 9 May. For the most part, the going will be good to soft (soft in places).
The successful trainer-jockey combination of Paul Nicholls and Sam Twiston-Davies will be pairing up for the £30,000 13:45 Long Distance Hurdle. Pearl Swan has been given odds of 6/1 by Sky Sports, but Edeymi is currently favourite at 9/2.
An enormous £60,000 has been stumped up for the 15:25 Handicap Hurdle, which will see 11 horses compete against one another. The key horse racing nap of the day is the 11/2 Arzal, a winner twice in its last six races.
Another horse to watch is the 5/1 Cheltenian, which will be ridden by the experienced Richard Johnson. Cheltenian has won once its past six races.
